Agile development continued to grow in 2018 as more and more IT teams recognized the safety, security, and efficiency of deploying to the cloud. What can we expect in 2019? We’re anticipating several trends that fall into two categories: increased trust in the cloud, and a deeper understanding of what agile can do to speed delivery.
Mistrust Of The Cloud Disintegrates
There has been a learning curve for some organizations and the cloud. At first many were leery about storing confidential information in systems that they didn’t own or weren’t local. However, 2018 was the year that these fears started to shatter, thanks to the early adopters like Google, which continued to enjoy massive success using the platform.
Get ready for increased volume and migration to the cloud in 2019 as more organizations will shed their old-school mindset and move with the times.
Bridging the Gap
In the past year, more companies have adopted agile at large scale – managing product portfolios rather than individual projects. This will enable them to work better, faster, and stronger.
When it comes to “going agile,” the lowest-hanging fruit is at the team level – making sure the product owner is effectively representing the business, working through backlog, etc. The collaborative process will grow as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), the heart of agile development, becomes standard, and in turn, making delivery to the marketplace faster.
