Software deployment has been a major problem for decades. On the client and the server. On the client, the inability to deploy apps to devices without breaking other apps (or sometimes the client operating system has pushed most business software development to relying entirely on the client's browser as a runtime. On the server all sorts of solutions have been attempted, including complex and costly server-side management/deployment software.
