The methodology and management of software projects are constantly evolving, especially in the last eight years. Having capable and experienced project managers aren’t just nice to have on a project – they’re essential. To make sure we’re staying on top of all the latest trends in project planning and delivery, Magenic hosts the Project Manager (PM) Summit each year.
The PM Summit has been running for eight years and is consistently expanding and improving, allowing Magenic PMs (known as development managers) and other employees to collaborate and learn the most effective modern strategies for project management. The goal is to foster the continuous education of employees and refinement of Magenic’s development process.
Hosted by Magenic’s National Project Manager, Michael Dougherty, this year’s PM Summit had nearly 50 attendees and focused on two overall themes: “High performance teams and delivery excellence” and “Product over project and new horizons”.
The first two days of the event were split into two different sessions: educational presentations led by Dougherty and other top thought leaders, and team exercises and open space discussions. The format allowed for attendees to learn from real world scenarios presented by leadership while also getting to share ideas and discuss varying topics with peers.
Effective communication was a key point across all presentations. Knowing what information project managers need themselves, and what they need to convey to their clients, is essential to building excellent business partnerships. An effective project manager can focus conversations around Magenic’s delivery process to get the information they need. The ability to answer each question in the delivery process confidently paves a road of verified trust that business partners can rely on. Through this process we are able to create a better product, not just a complete a project. “Like tending a garden, delivery is a never-ending process of refinement. We have over twenty-two years of great consulting experience, but we can always get faster to validate and deliver the right product,” explained Dougherty.
The Summit also included two additional days for attendees to prepare for different Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications: SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) and SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM). These SAFe certifications are among the highest quality scrum certifications and align with Magenic’s Foundation development process.
Our vision of continuous education and development is what keeps Magenic as a leader in our market. If you would like to join our company in delivering the best applications that do what companies need them to do, apply today.
