In the past, pressure was on IT organizations to deliver software with speed. Now, due to customer expectations and a demand for an immediate solution, not only is speed required to survive, but it must be done with quality as well. It’s a challenge that many companies are realizing they have to overcome, yet many don’t know how.
So how can companies not only increase the velocity in which they release software, but do so that meets quality standards? For many companies that are successfully balancing both, they have started to incorporate Agile, especially Agile testing, into their software development practice.
In a recent Forrester Research study commissioned by Magenic, Business and IT leaders were asked to identify the chief demand place on app development groups. As you can see in the figure below, improving the quality of software delivered is identified by 84% of business leaders, the number one response. That’s a large figure and very telling of the expectations being place on development teams.
Despite the obvious importance of quality, most companies are leaving testing until it’s far too late in the development lifecycle, while many are waiting until development is finished entirely to start testing. In doing so, delivering software with quality becomes near impossible. Adopting Agile testing throughout an engagement is imperative to delivering with speed AND quality.
