Save hundreds of thousands of dollars in framework and test development
MAQS is an open source framework created by the QA engineers at Magenic that automates a set of QA tasks. It enables organizations to continuously deliver digital products faster, with fewer defects, saving both time and money
A nationwide financial services organization with over 750,000 members was handcuffed by a host of aging and complex applications, affecting how they helped their customers. Due to the technical challenges and tedious requirements of the applications, there was significant time and cost involved in deploying new products. The large number of requirements and technical challenges, with limited QA test team capacity, meant the organization would have to prioritize product testing. Additionally, the organization was reallocating resources from outside of QA to help and ultimately disrupting multiple I.T. teams.
Magenic’s Automation Quick Start (MAQS) was introduced which enabled the QA team to automate testing instantaneously. It provided a platform that brought their testing efforts into the automation realm, dramatically changing the landscape of their testing practices. MAQS was integrated into the deployment process across each of the struggling applications, allowing for immediate feedback and faster deployment cycles. The MAQS database feature allowed the client to easily generate, setup, verify, and clean test data. A team of four was able to setup an automation solution using MAQS and create tests against the applications within hours, instead of spending weeks to months designing, planning, developing, and testing a framework with similar features.
MAQS covered all core areas of automation, including areas that were not, or could not, be tested before. By supplementing manual testing with MAQS, the team was able to expand test coverage to other areas and focus on new product testing. The client was able to work on the same framework for multiple apps, providing consistency to each project on which it was used. Applications that were formerly hindering the customer experience, and products that could not have been developed, were updated or put to market faster and cheaper.
